Ecobehavioral research on wild songbirds is typically conducted through manual observation of animals in the field. This is a time and energy consuming process that can be optimized through the use of technology. The Programmable Automatous System for Songbird Ecological Research (PASSER) Project experiments with utilizing low-cost, computer-enabled bird feeder and bird box units that can perform data collection tasks autonomously. My contribution involved 3D design and prototyping, electronics assembly, and research. This work was conducted during Summer 2016 at Radford University.
